Easter Treats 2011

We usually head up to my aunt's for Easter - a place where I craft and spend time with family because there's no internet.

My Aunt Carol had a couple recipes she wanted to try, including these Hummingbird Nests. You melt chocolate, coat coconut with it, press your thumb into the center when they're cool, and add tiny jelly beans. They taste very chocolatey and just a little bit sweet - there isn't a ton of coconut flavor to them.

Carol also wanted to make Easter Basket Cupcakes, but she seemed happy enough they just got decorated. There were 15 cupcakes in all - 9 of which I did and 6 of which my cousin and her boyfriend did. I'd like to say it's because I'm generous but it's really because I want All The Praise for being creative and hardworking. Even more likely is I'm Easily Duped Into Working while the family watches The Wizard of OZ.

Aunt Carol bought this Green Apple Edible Easter Grass that came with little wafer rabbits. The cupcake on the lower left was my first attempt at decorating and... it didn't go well. I tried to improve on the "nest" or "Fibonacci's Sequence" design with each subsequent attempt, but I never got the grass design to where I wanted it to be.

After looking at my cousin's cupcakes, I decided the second tier should have two rabbits facing each other to differentiate it. And then I added more Jelly Beans. ~*~*DECORATING GENIUS*~*~

People will eat the top tier cupcakes first because there's the least amount of stuff on them, pick off most of what's on the second tier, and the third tier will probably sit around until Mother's Day.

Otherwise, I spent the day driving (ow my back), eating ham, and losing at Scrabble to my younger brother. I am trying not to be bitter that he totally stole all my QUEUE points by putting an S on the end of it, leaving me to argue like hell that QUEUES wasn't a real word. Later we found out he was counting the Scrabble points wrong and probably won by a miscalculation, but we didn't say anything because it's Easter - a day you should probably not start shit (the day before Easter: anything goes).

I'd also show you what I got in my Easter basket, but I ate most of it already:

Jesus returned and all I got was diabetes.

But what I was really excited for:

:D I'm taking this thing to bed with me. YOU CAN'T STOP OUR LOVE.

FERRERO BUNNY IS SO GOOD - THERE ARE THREE KINDS: REGULAR, DARK CHOCOLATE AND COCONUT :D

The Easter grass was so cute but hard to work with. More likely is I just didn't know what to do with it.

Saw that on Tumblr and thought, "Yes, this is what Easter means to me." XD

My family is crazy for the Peeps - my mom actually got this Rainbow Peep Pop from my Aunt Carol:

And here's a Peep Bouquet I made for my Aunt some years ago:
